Auditions

Schedule an audition slot for our production of Much Ado About Nothing.

Druid & Bard is excited to bring you one of Shakespeare's wittiest comedies with a twist of being spirited away on a journey through the universe.

Reimagined by director, Duncan Calem, what if the bard was using his romantic comedy to take us into a cosmic tale, from creation to harmony, and all the chaos and love and hatred in between? Through magic induced hysteria, we bring you a rom-com like you've never seen.

Join us this summer in our new world, Much Ado About Nothing!

What to Prepare

Auditioners are asked to prepare one comedic or dramatic monologue no longer than 60 seconds. This does not have to be a Shakespearean monologue. If preparing a Shakespearean monologue, please select material outside of Much Ado About Nothing. Be prepared to perform your material at least twice, with minor improvisations and new motivations.

We do not require in-person resumes or headshots, but please feel free to provide a copy if you would like.

What to Expect

Thank you for considering Druid & Bard as your next place to engage with theatre and audiences! We are always excited to work with new faces and reconnect with past performers. If you haven't attended a Druid & Bard audition here is what you can expect:

- Each auditioner is guarenteed at least 10 minutes of audition time. We hope to use this effectively as both a medium to get to know our auditioners and to conduct a mini-workshop with your selected audition material.

- Anticipate performing your material a couple of times, once as you have prepared, then once or twice more with improvisations or new motivations to stretch our imagination of what your material can produce through your voice, as well as how it may work within the story of Much Ado About Nothing.

- Auditions are traditionally held in front of a panel of 2 or 3 production team members. You may see our director (Duncan) and our producer (Brandon) as well as our stage manager. We are all rooting for you to succeed!

- Some time slots are after Georgetown Public Library operating hours, so you will need to be let in by an audition attendant. If you do not see anyone, please email thestage@druidandbard.com and someone will be with you shortly.
